ABOUT DEBORAH
As promised, here is the bio. It wasn't as easy to write as I thought. If you think I should edit, please let me know. Here goes:
I am a WIML graduate from 2023 to 2024. This experience has greatly helped me to see what is important to me as a wife, mother, nana and friend. I am so happy to be a part of your lives even for a short mentor's meeting. My life statement is: I am a bold, courageous, encouraging voice for justice. The words voice and justice were important to me because for half of my life, my voice was not heard and justice was because I spent 36 years as a legal secretary/paralegal in downtown Honolulu. When I see an injustice, I just have to do something about it. Since encouragement is part of my God given gifts, it goes without saying that I can and do encourage others every day.
My husband Rob and I have been married for 48 years this September. We have 3 wonderful children who are married (their spouses are wonderful as well), and 9 grandchildren who keep me on my toes. Family is very important to me and I don't take it lightly. God has also given me the gift of peacemaker. I will do whatever I can to make peace in the home. Also, I pray to God about everything and everyone wants/needs the funny nana/mom/wife. :)
My husband and I have served in many capacities at our home church Hope Chapel now Anchor Church since 1984. Rob has been on staff as a Pastor since 1986. I was working as a legal secretary/paralegal for 36 years while during those years I was serving as a volunteer in the women's ministry, prayer ministry, couples (marriage ministry), youth ministry, missions to Japan with the youth and for marriage seminars, Connect Groups at our house every week over the years (bible study). Since September of 2020, my husband has been appointed the lead Pastor of Anchor Church. This role for me brings new and exciting opportunities as God leads.
My passion is to encourage women to follow the Lord in all areas in which God is directly them. To help them by dialoguing and asking hard questions, and praying for guidance from the Holy Spirit and the word. I am like a Barnabas who sees the God gift in others and encourages them to follow God's lead through the Holy Spirit's direction.
