WIML Participants! What an amazing journey you are about to embark on and I know personally how transformative it is. As one of your counselors, it is truly an honor to hold space for your stories and your ministry experiences. 

Throughout this next year, you will explore your values and identity and it's possible that things from your past will begin to surface. That may be deeply held beliefs, family or faith of origin patterns or even wounds that you thought you had moved past. This is where counseling comes in. My approach is to explore with you those stories and how they came to be, asking the Holy Spirit to highlight places that need healing and inviting Jesus to speak His truth over you. Whether it's one session or multiple, I highly encourage you to use the counseling that is offered in this cohort.

A prophetic voice of truth and identity, Matina is passionate about walking alongside others into wholeness. Using a narrative therapy perspective and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Matina's pastoral counseling work focuses on understanding the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and unpacking how those have come to be. As we invite the Lord to speak to the parts of our soul that may need healing, we find transformation that allows us to walk our calling in freedom and joy! 

In addition to being a licensed therapist for the last 10 years, she is a Foursquare pastor at Hope Community in Tacoma, WA - currently on sabbatical as she discerns the next steps in her vocational ministry assignment. Prior to sabbatical, Matina spent the past 7 years as a boarding school dorm parent- living life with 130 students from over 10 different nations.
